KÖLLE ALAAF -LAUGH, SING, CELEBRATE
Kölle Alaaf - that means laughing, singing and celebrating
The Cologne carnival has been around for centuries.
and the people of Cologne really enjoy celebrating. That's why the carnival starts today on Weiberfastnacht, at 11:11 am. The schools have their own sessions and bring their children to the stage. In the districts, schools and children's groups take part in the parades. The highlight is the “Schull un Veedelszöch” on Sunday. And Cologne's carnival is ruled by a children's triumvirate.
But watch out! This carnival is in danger. Schools no longer rehearse for their own carnival session and no longer take part in the Veedelszügen parades. Children's dance groups are no longer invited to the big carnival sessions. And when the music turns into chanting, who can still sway?
You must avert this danger. There are 9 stations. At each station you will learn something about a Cologne carnival tradition. Once you have solved all the tasks at the last station, you will have preserved the tradition for the people of Cologne and saved the carnival.
An entertaining journey through the history of Cologne Carnival.
